I have the same problem. To clarify, the basic network connection is working,
but DNS is not. /etc/resolv.conf contains the following:

search localdomain

# ppp temp entry

Copying resolv.conf from my 9.0 installation gets DNS. This contains:

nameserver 194.168.4.100
nameserver 194.168.8.100

I believe this was created automatically by DHCP by 9.0, but this is not
happening in 9.1beta3.

I get the same behaviour with or without shorewall installed.

My LAN configuration reported by drakconnect is

Interface: eth0
IP address:
Protocol: dhcp
Driver: via-rhine
State: up

Let me know if you need more information.

It looks like this could be the same problem as bug id# 379.
I cannot access the internet unless i type in the ip address. I'm going to
remove shorewall and see if i can then access the internet. I'll follow up if
this fixes the problem in 9.1 beta 3
