Could we try something different this time? Maybe let the package
maintainers decide when to freeze on an individual basis? I think they
are smart enough to decide what's appropriate and what's not. Yeah some
new program versions are for new features, and they're probably not
gonna mess with those, but others are just for fixing bugs, that's the
whole point of a new release sometimes. I don't see the value in a
system-wide freeze, especially not this far from release.
