This is not a bug specific to Mandrake. It is a fault in the Compaq presario 700
series
implementation of ACPI (power management). See my webpage to get a detailed

Poor ACPI support for notebook. Can't reboot or shutdown my Compaq Presario
725EA. After reboot notebook freez. When try to shutdown, said - system halted.
Need to push power button to shutdown.
