Ok, this is probably in the category "but you just shouldn't do this!" ;-)
I removed a pc-card (3com model 3CCFE575BT) during the copying of packages from
the CD. The system hung with a panic (blinking capslock).
I have no idea if I can do this in another situation, but as you can see on the URL,
pcmcia configuration is quite critical on this hardware.
