I tried every and both options you proposed and also to disable APIC in BIOS - 
still the same thing: a hang-up just after loading of all.rdz
Forgot to mention: the motherboard is ABIT-KD7 and everything works fine in 
WinXP and worked under LM9.0 so it's hardly hardware glitches.
How else can I help you?

That's it: I boot from LM9.1rc1 CD1, a graphical menu appears, and whatever graphical 
install I chose, the screen goes black after loading all.rdz (reported in expert mode) 
and 
the caps lock and scroll lock start flashing on the keyboard. I was able to intall rc1 
in the 
text mode, although my ordinary wheel PS/2 mouse was not recognised. After a couple 
reboots, X was finally able to load the mouse, but not as wheel mouse. Configuration 
with mousedrake gives nothing and result in the following /var/log/messages report:
