I disagree since eventually (after 17 attempts) it succeeded in getting a list of
updates from the
same site.
Besides, the real problem lies in not giving the user an option to stop the process
when there
is a failure io retrieve info about updates or the updates themselves. After all,
there could be a
hundred reasons causing a network failure. It should be like this:

1. Ask if info about updates should be obtained
If yes, pop a button "stop search now" and start the search.
2. If info is retrieved successfully, vanish the previous button and ask if the
selected updates
should be downloaded.
If yes, pop a button "stop download now" and start the download.
3. If download is complete, vanish the previous button and ask if the downloaded
updates
should be applied and so on. If download is incomplete then ask if those packages that
are
completely downloaded should be applied.

Every operation should be discrete with the user given a choice at each stage. For
now, at
least step 1 should give the option of stopping a search.

It starts searching for updates and these messages appear on the terminal:

1) As can be seen, it tried to connect 17 times (over a period of 2 minutes). There is
no option
in mcc to set a limit to the number of connection attempts.

2) Whats as bad as 1) is that the pop up window which asks to start searching for
updates,
goes blank when the update search is on. This means, even it had a button "stop search
now"
it will not be visible. In other words, there is no way to stop this search.

Killing mcc is the only way.
