so to which version do I need to update kdebase for this to work? The message I replied to said it was "fixed in -39mdk". I tried it with that version and with -40mdk and in both cases it wasn't working. I will use the workaround in the meantime.
The workaround mentioned to you is the same as the fix put in the -39mdk package. It's possible the package upgrade didn't overwrite your old kdmrc.
