description:
The following problem applies to Mandrake 9.1 beta 3, and earlier versions
(verified also on 9.0).

There seems to be a binary incompatibility problem between the RedHat and
Mandrake c++ library builds. Some commercial programs - compiled on RedHat -
cannot run (or runs with somewhat limited functionality) on Mandrake. The
problem is less for free and open source software, where it's always possible to
recompile on Mandrake. Search on _t24__default_alloc_template2b1i0.free_list in
Google, and you will find many reported problems.

I'm attempting to run ActiveState Komodo 2.x, and the problem occurs in their
XalanDebugger. I reported the problem as a bug to ActiveState, but apparently
it's a build problem then.

It seems to me it would be better if Linux software can be expected to run on
all major distros (including Mandrake), and Software vendors not be forced to
choose between either build a special version for Mandrake... or explicitly not
support their application on Mandrake at all!:-o
