Add "MII_NOT_SUPPORTED=yes" to your /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0, this should get done by drakconnect if you run it, or during installation (it did for me). But IMHO it should still be possible to check this using the exit status of ifstatus so this setting is not necessary.
