What tool does Mandrake use to manage the pam.d files? RedHat has
authconfig. I know that with mdk you can configure this when installing
a machine, but after the installation, how ar you suposed to
reconfigure this? Manually?

Yes, or even worse, you can try chkauth (seperate package). Does not have
the winbind support. Since pixel has time on his hands, maybe he can
split out the auth dialog from DrakX? It will need extra testing then
though ...

just had a look at the code... and it's quite badly integrated in
install, not ready for standalone use.

I agree with you, it's too late for 9.1 . But it would be a nice feature for next release (I often have to change the auth methode on my laptop, depending on network I'm using).

The same reason I'd like to see it done.

For the moment: using chkauth (thanks for the hint).
