ReRan locate and searched for and removed all leftover directories / config files / dot files etc from the box. Then i got out my install disks for Beta3 and installed the following kdelibs-3.1-4mdk kdelibs-common-3.1-4mdk kdebase-3.1-7mdk kdeadmin-3.1-3mdk + to satisfy dependencies. arts-1.1.0-1mdk libarts-1.1.0-1mdk libqt3-common-3.1.1-8mdk libqt3-3.1.1-8mdk krootwarning-9.1-1mdk mdklaunchhelp-9.1-2mdk KDE now works.... Windows open and no DCOP fault. Then I did urpmi.update -a and urpmi --auto --auto-select. Once donwloaded and installed I ran kcontrol as root from the command line as before. DCOP server error. Xlib: extension "RENDER" missing on display ":0.0". DCOP aborting call from 'anonymous-2642' to 'kcontrol' Also note that the Xlib error indicative of problems with anti-aliasing appears again. Then I did rpm -e libqt3 libqt3-common --nodeps then I installed the libqt3 and libqt3-common from the Beta3 disks. Ran kcontrol and it worked flawlessly. Conclusion ... for my hardware etc the current libqt3 and libqt3-common don't work. Hardware. Since then I've not been able to use any of kde. So today I completely removed all of kde and qt3 on this box. All .kde files All of arts etc. double checked vi locate to ensure that all was gone. (I used urpme to remove.) then I did urpmi kdebase-kdm said yes to everything it wanted to install. Still core dumps. Running cooker current. Base wm is iceWM for normal usage. I will attach a copy of the latest core dump
