I just went through /sbin/ifup and don't see anything that looks wrong. Do you have BOOTPROTO=dhcp in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0? Do you have dhcpcd installed? If all those are yes, then you'll need to check the logs and see what errors if any are coming back to you. Of course the problem could be the server. Have you been able to set the hostname before?
