It also fixes my long standing problem with metacity not setting window focus after clicking into window - a bug I quarreled with Frederic Crozat some time ago. So it seems numlock service screws things up for GNOME a big time. This is a major problem for accessability reasons and for people who prefer minimal use of the mouse. (I've observed this using nl locale, if that matters)
