Try playing a sound with xmms, with the ALSA output plugin enabled. xmms just freezes solid. Someone else confirmed this happens to them, also. Some other possibly related stuff - totem won't play any audio files, it freezes just like xmms, and I'm fairly sure it's trying to use ALSA. Trying to run Quakeforge (Quake source port) in ALSA mode gives a segfault. -- adamw
