/tmp/image is a symlink to /tmp/hdimage

i bet you're giving "/Mandrake/base" as a path where you should give "/" only.

I created boot discs from both the hd.img and usb.img image files (both had the
same problem). The iso's was in this case /dev/hda/Mandrake/base. After
selecting the location of the iso's as /dev/hda, the installation program
raised an error that it was unable to load the file it needed for the second
stage of the installation.
The installation output shows that the first iso was mounted on
/tmp/hdimage and then tried to access the second stage file
from /tmp/image/<path to file>. (Should be /tmp/hbimage/<path to file>)
