I don't see why this is a bug. It is much better to run one instance of konsole
and use multiple shells inside that, than to launch multiple shells.

If you really want it, it works, but it should not be the default

The default terminal button on the KDE panel for a new user is not the same if
you select "Kicker > configure panel > add > special button > terminal
sessions".  The special button has a cascade option that lets you popup and
select the type of terminal but the default terminal button does not.
