Actually, it does. All the characters are available, it's just that
"typical" behavior (as defined by my Windows experience) assigns "~" and "`"
on the numeric row as deadkeys. In the latest keymapping, they give the
characters but can't be used as deadkeys.

I can't remember if this was the case in 9.0. The keymapping *does* make
caps lock + number give a capital "�" or "�", which is very useful, and I
like that behavior (though on a laptop, it's sort of a pain to always have
to do shift+number to get the digit).

I'd only opened the bug because of the difference between expected behavior
(in light of Mandrake being a desktop-oriented distro, thus theoretically
attracting a number of Windows users) and correct behavoir (normally, no
need for "~" accent in French, or "`" accent beyond the pre-assigned "�" and
"�" characters).

I'll just miss being able to type "hasta ma�ana" on my French keyboard... :)
