I have a GeF2 and have seen the same problem for several months
(before beta1). For me tho the problem is intermittent and happens
less than half the time. I use the XFree nv driver and would rather
have to logout/in to KDE to correct the garbled screen, than use the
proprietary nvidia driver.
I still think it could just as well be a hardware problem. At
least that possibility needs to be eliminated first. I have a very
cheap Abit GeF2-64DDR. Tho I no longer have W98 installed, I
occasionally had a similar situation when booting Windoze. A windoze
'<Shift> + re-Start' also cured the garbled screen.
