------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-05 20:21 -------
I did a fresh install with MDK 9.1 RC 2 on the same machine, and the X
configuration now succeeds without any problems:-)

description:
After aborted installation (see description given in [Bug 2085] ), I attempt an
_upgrade_ to do the remaining configuration.
I have a Diamond 8 MB Permedia 2 (Fire GL 1000 Pro) graphics adapter, and a
Brother BM85L monitor (which is not listed: see [Bug 1607] ).
First: monitor. I specify a generic monitor 1024x768 @ 60Hz
I then select the Diamond Fire GL 1000 Pro (the installation suggests "Gloria
Synergy", which perhaps uses the same chip set). I am not given an opportunity
to specify the amount of graphics RAM available, which may or may not be important.
I then specify a resolution of 1024x768 16bpp. and try to test the
configuration. It gives me:
---------------------------------
An error occurred.
Caught signal 11. Server aborting
Try to change some parameters
---------------------------------
I try to change the monitor to 1024x768 @ 70 Hz (which should work as well), but
with the same "signal 11" error message.
This configuration worked well with MDK 9.1 beta 3, so something must have
broken since then.
Going further, the info given is:
XFree 4.2.99
Keyboard layout: no
Mouse type: IMPS/2
Monitor: 1024x768 @ 70 Hz
Graphics card: Diamond Fire GL 1000 PRO
Color depth. 65 thousand colors (16 bits)
Resolution: 1024x 768
XFree86 server: 3DLabs
XFree86 driver: glint
Don't know if the XFree86 server and driver chosen by the installation is
correct for the graphics card?
