------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-05 22:00 -------
In addition, the Gimp system font (for the menu etc.) isn't at all what it used
to be. I experienced the same thing with the commercial Mozilla-based
application Komodo 2.3 (from ActiveState), so it's probably not a problem in
Gimp itself. I found the same problem in MDK 9.1 RC 1 and RC 2, and installing
on three quite different computers. In all cases, I tried to use the
applications as a normal user, not root.

The fonts I tried (and failed) to use with the Gimp text tool are located
somewhere below the /usr/share/fonts directory.

LogDrake gave me the following after I chose "User", right after the failed
Gimp attempt. Messages refer to a directory /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/drakfont
etc. that does not exist!

Gimp displays a list of available fonts but only part of them are really
available, maybe half. Only available fonts should be displayed.
