Product: mdkkdm
Component: libsasl2-plug-ntlm
Summary: mdkkdm doesn't work - trouble with ACPI ?
Version: 9.1-22mdk
Platform: PC
OS/Version: All
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
I updated my MDK9.1 rc1 with cooker files, using urpmi command, so I updated the
packages one by one and for a time I had troubles with KDE (because I forgot to
download one rpm). (I updated with KDE packages, new kernel, lots of Mandrake
packages... Urpmi is great!).
THe update included the last version of ACPI, which is working quite well now.
But I have now a trouble with mdkkdm and it could be related with ACPI.
The boot sequence runs now in text mode, without the graphical interface. Once
Linux is loaded, I get the standard text console for login, and I must type
"startx" in order to launch KDE.
I can have a DM if I activate KDM for example (inside the KDE Control Center).
The Mandrake Control Center is supposed to allow me to choose my DM in the
section System/Display Manager Chooser. But once I clicked my DM (XDM, GDM, KDM
or MDKKDM), the default one always come back (mdkkdm).
On the section Demarrage/DrakBoot I canno't change any options because once I
clicked "ok" everything goes back to the default option...
Finally, one more observation: If my lilo.conf contains "acpi=on", I get the
message "schedule tast(): keventd has not started" at the beginning of the boot
process. If I put acpi=off, the message doesn't appear anymore, but the boot
process is still in simple text mode...
Hopt it helps!
