Here's an idea for modifying this recipe. Dale back me up on this one. Grill the brats. Saute the onion and peppers in a bit of oil. Throw the brat on a bun cover in peppers and onions. And here's the best part...wait for it...here it comes...
Drink the 6 cups of lager as you eat the brat!!! And for dessert, finish off the rest of the 6 pack. Cook about 15 minutes or until very soft, tossing occasionally. Add the bratwurst to the skillet in the last 5 minutes of cooking to lightly brown. If the vegetables begin to get too dark, add a few tablespoons of the bratwurst cooking liquid. Season, to taste, with salt and black pepper. To serve, spread each bun with mustard.
