Your method sounds like a winner. I wonder if you've ever experimented by
measuring the exact amount of 3 drops into like say, 1/8 tsp if it equals to
that amount?
If it did, then one could just squeeze the coloring directly into the
measuring spoon or if your clumbsy like me better do it in a tiny cup or
bowl where you can scoop it into the measuring spoon, or is this like too
much hassle?

If you can get a medicine dropper that came with an eye drop or ear drop
bottle, the dropper only holds 3 drops. I have done that before.
