Ingredients
  a.. 2 cups dried currants
b.. 1/4-cup orange-flavored liqueur (recommended: Grand Marnier) or water
  c.. 4 cups all-purpose flour
  d.. 1 teaspoon baking powder
  e.. 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  f.. 1 teaspoon salt
g.. 1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature, cut into
cubes
  h.. 2 cups sugar
  i.. 2 large eggs
  j.. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
k.. 2 medium oranges, zest finely grated
l.. 1 tablespoon coarse polenta or cornmeal
Directions
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

In a small bowl, add the currants and orange-flavored liqueur, or water. Soak
for 5 minutes, then drain and discard the liquid. Set aside.

Sift together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
Add the butter and sugar to the bowl of a stand mixer and beat to combine.
Gradually add the eggs and vanilla and mix on medium speed until incorporated,
(the mixture will look curdled). Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Add the
flour mixture all at once and mix again on low speed until a dough forms -
scrape again including the beaters. When a dough forms add the currants, zest,
and polenta and mix on low until thoroughly combined. Roll into small 1-inch
balls, and arrange on parchment lined baking sheets. Bake until golden brown,
about 8 to 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool before serving.

...And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in
swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them
in the inn.
Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping
watch over their flock by night.
And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord
shone around them, and they were greatly afraid.
Then the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good
tidings of great joy which will be to all people.
"For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is
Christ the Lord.
"And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling
cloths, lying in a manger."
And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host
praising God and saying: "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good
will toward men!"
