CHOCOLATE PIE WITH NEVER FAIL MERINGUE

3/4 c. sugar

3 tbsp. flour

2 1/2 c. milk

3 egg yolks

3 tbsp. cornstarch

1/2 tsp. salt

2 sqs. unsweetened chocolate

1 tsp. vanilla

Baked pie shell

NEVER FAIL MERINGUE:

1 tbsp. cornstarch

6 tbsp. sugar

1/2 c. water

3 egg whites

A few grains of salt

To make the pie, blend together sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt. Stir in hot 
milk

and cook over hot water until thick. Add chocolate broken in small pieces, and 
stir

until smooth.

Add a small amount of the mixture to the beaten egg yolks, stirring well. Return

to main part of mixture. Cook 2 minutes longer. Cool.

Add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell, and top with meringue.

Mix cornstarch, sugar, water and salt in a saucepan. Cook until thick and clear.

Cool slightly.

Beat egg whites with mixer until frothy. Continue beating while pouring 
cornstarch

mixture in. Beat 5 minutes.

Cover cooled filling in the pie shell, sealing edges to crust. Bake at 450 
degrees

for 5 to 7 minutes or until brown.   Enjoy.
