Mock Apple Pie
In the Depression days this was called, Mock Apple Pie, or, poor man's pie.
Amazing how near it really taste like real apple pie. I have made it and
fooled some people with it too. Fun to see how many really think it is Apple
pie when there is really no apples in it. Katie
16 soda crackers
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
1 1/2 teaspoon cream of tarter
1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/12 Cup boiling water
Break crackers into 1/4 pieaces
add sugar, cream of tarter, and, sinnimon
Pour the boiling water over this and stir well.
Pour in unbaked pie shell . Dot with small pieces of butter. Put top pie shell
on top and seal edges. Spread melted butter over top and sprinkle with sugar.
Vent top of crust with small punjers, or small slices over top crust. Bake at
350 until glolden brown.
