Thanks to everyone who responded. My question came because I am baking a cake that calls for a cup of butter and I have a block of butte rint he fridge and I was wondering how to cut it before I melt it down. My othe question is that this recipe calls for me to combine a cup of water, butter and cocoa powder over a medium flame. Should I melt the butter first or just dump everything in and stir until its melted? Any suggestions?
