Now that I have the keurig pot out of the box, you can use it without those
k cups; I mean, you can boil water and put it over say, like your oatmeal or
ramen noodles, and do hot chocolate in the envelopes or tea using teabags,
but instant coffee, yes, and no way to brew coffee using coffee filters; it
is neat though, and I am enjoying it. it was a nice gift. we also found a
store here, luckily, the grocery store where I shop that has them for one
fourth or so price of their website, but of course, not all the flavors.

Yes, it is a coffee maker, but aside from coffee, it also makes hot
chocolate, cappuccinos, frappuccinos, iced teas, etc, all in one
machine.
Instead of using coffee/tea grounds, you use Nescafe capsules.
