I really like the idea of using sliced almonds. The only idea I have is to
use the tip of a dinner knife to make little slits in the doe. Hold the
knife at an angle, push in just a little and raise it up just a tiny bit.

I am making fish shaped shortbread cookies. I am looking for ideas on how
to decorate them to look like fish scales? Keeping in mind I am totally
blind and have no vision available to make colours of icing.
Any ideas will do -silly, colourful, tactile?
