I find that if you use an oversized pot it makes it easier to mix the melted marshmellows and rice together without spilling it. Also spray the inside of your pot thoroughly with cooking oil spray -bottom and all the way up the sides to reduce the loss of bits of mixture sticking to the pot.
I am also sure there was a teaspoon of vanilla flavouring in the old kellog recipe. My Dad puts 3/4 cup of dried cranberries in them with the rice.
