For white rice, just rinse the rice in a strainer that is solid on the bottom to prevent your grains from going through it. Then, put it in the rice pot at a ratio of two cups water to one cup rice. For brown rice, put the rice in a bowl and add enough water to cover and soak it for about an hour. Then, drain off the water and put the rice in the rice pot at about the same ratio. Some people add a little extra water. For either rice, you can also add a little salt, a little dark sesame oil (buy only at an Asian market) and some toasted sesame seed. I buy my sesame seed at the Korean store where it has already been toasted.

Subject: [CnD] Rice cooker

I got a rice-cooker a couple of weeks ago. I'm needing instructions on the best way to cook: white rice, brown rice, and wild rice. Also, can I cook other things in it, such as: oatmeal or grits, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kerry
