I know Dale is a big Halloween party guy and has lot's of great costume ideas. Here are a few I was reading through and decided to ask if any of you have any good food related costume ideas? Ever dress up as an eat to trick or treat? Halloween is still a ways off, but it got me wondering: Have you ever dressed up in some sort of food-related costume in the past? What was it and when...
As a teacher I once dressed up as a baked potato (pillows tied on front and back, brown paper bag in front, whole potato liberally enveloped in foil). When we were being judged by the students at an assembly I asked my colleague, and Irishman who always won, to squirt shaving cream on me while I was lying on the floor and sprinkle grass on me for chives. Huge uproar. I won. My mother made my sister and I into Hershey Kisses one year, gold and silver. We wore tights, stepped into the costumes that drawstringed around our necks, then filled them up on the bottom with newspaper. Then we had ponytails on top of heads and she had sewn the Hershey's white paper tab into them. Adorable. I suspended a certain green citrus fruit over my head on a wire. I was sublime. ...groan... Last year I was Duck a l'orange. I dressed up all in orange and wore rubber duckies around my neck. I have a really strange one - when I was a kid, we didn't do Halloween, just the church harvest party. All the costumes were supposed to be biblical, but I just wasn't feelin' the whole Esther/Mary/Ruth vibe. So my mom came up with an idea - manna from the desert! I dressed in white, with cotton balls and little flakes of paper stuck on, with a sign around my neck that said "what is it?" Only a couple other church kids got it but it certainly was memorable. I won a prize for most unusual costume (ever). For an end of the schoolyear banquet for my old theatre troupe I dressed up as a picnic. Made a tube dress with a checkered picnic blanket with plates and utensils sewn to it. Made a hat of plastic grass decorated with flowers and bees and drew a line of ants crawling up and down my arms and legs. I used a picnic basket as a purse; it lots of storage space in it and was great for carrying booze to/from the party. _______________________________________________ Cookinginthedark mailing list [email protected] http://acbradio.org/mailman/listinfo/cookinginthedark
