OLD FASHIONED POUND CAKE

1 lb. butter
1 lb. sugar
1 lb. flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla or mace
10 lg. eggs, separated
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. whiskey
2 tbsp. water

Cream butter, then add sugar; cream well. Beat egg yolks, 
add to the sugar and butter. Add flour, baking powder and 
mix well, then add whiskey, water and flavoring and mix for 
10 or 15 minutes. Then add beaten egg
whites and fold into batter slowly. Put into loaf pan lined 
with waxed paper and bake in 200 or 250 degree oven for 
1 1/2 hours.
