I seem to not be expressing myself well. Let me try this another way, with an example.
Let's say that Brand A stuffing comes in a 6oz. box and serves 4. Brand B comes in a much larger container, we don't know how many ounces it has (or even grams) and it holds 24 servings. We want to get an equivalent amount out of Brand B's container. So we take a measuring cup and count the number of cups in Brand B's container. Let's just say for the sake of example it held 12 cups. This tells us that a half a cup is a serving. (12 cups divided by 24 servings equals .5, or ½ cup per serving) So this tells us that to make four servings of Brand B we need two cups of Brand B stuffing mix, which is the equivalent of Brand A's 6 ounce box. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Allison Fallin Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 4:28 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CnD] Stuffing conversion I figured I could do that, but still don't know how many cups are in a 6 ounce box unless I just go ahead and buy one which I was trying not to have to do. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Nicole Massey" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 4:23 PM Subject: Re: [CnD] Stuffing conversion Is the box still sitting at the level it had coming from the store? If so, use your measuring cup and count them. This will tell you how many cups of dry cubes are in the box. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Allison Fallin Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 4:09 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CnD] Stuffing conversion That's the problem. I can find out how many servings, but it doesn't tell how many cups of dry cubes are in the box. That tells you the total amount in the container, then you can find out how many cups are in the dry cubes container and divide by the number of servings in the dry cubes container to determine how much you need to use. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Allison Fallin Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 3:35 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [CnD] Stuffing conversion I don't have a six-ounce package, but I think it makes six servings, but that doesn't tell me what the amount of dry bubes would be. And is it a new container with none of it used yet? If so then you can determine how many cups are in the container and divide to get the cups for one serving. But you said this didn't work. Where did it go off the rails? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Allison Fallin Sent: Thursday, January 19, 2012 2:40 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [CnD] Stuffing conversion I have a recipe that calls for a 6 ounce package of stuffing mix, like stovetop stuffing. I don't have that, but have seasoned stuffing cubes. Any idea how many cups of cubes would equal a 6 ounce package of stovetop stuffing. Directions for Me didn't help.
