I was taught, in Home Ec, to put tooth picks into the sides of the cake as markers and use dental floss as the cutting edge. Simply line the floss up with the tooth picks and wiggle/pull through cake. I have seen it work well with some cakes, but have not seen it used wit Angel Food cake, so can't comment on whether it would actually work, since they say to use a serrated knife for slicing them.
