Alice, my salad spinner has a crank. These green bags; are they found near
where the produce is sold, and then do you just put the unwashed lettuce or
other stuff in them, or do you have to do anything special? I really need to
find some thing, as it is costly to have to discard more than half of your
produce, and I buy it to eat, not toss out!
Would these green bags also be good for tomatoes, corn on the cob? Broccoli?

Let two! grins! grow! where one! grouch! was before!

Subject: [CnD] keeping lettuce.

Hi, Sandy,

Paper towel helps, but you have to wrap the lettuce in it and check for
moisture each day. Another suggestion is to get some Green Bags; I think
they are available in grocery stores and in Wallmart. They help to keep
produce fresh for a long time. A salad spinner is used to dry lettuce when
it is washed. It is not designed for storage. It's very affective for
getting all the water off washed lettuce because it works in the same way as
a washing machine on the spin cycle. Some spinners have a string that you
pull which spins the inner bowl around rapidly; others have a crank that you
turn to accomplish the same thing.

Hope this helps.
Alice
