Hi,
My dad and his wife, got me the Platinem model for Christmas. I love it.
It’s digital, but is easy to use. It has four buttons on the face of the unit.
You turn the unit on by flipping a rocker switch in the back. They got me that
model because the others didn’t look as easy to use and some had no buttons.
The buttons are located below the digital sccreen. There are three on one row
and one by itself, on another. Two are round, one is oval, and the other,
rectangular. I don’t remember what the first round button on the left does. The
next one is the rectangular one, and is the menu button. The farthest button on
the right, on the top row of three buttons, is circularthe and is the cup size
selection button. You can press this if you want a bigger cup of whatever
you’re making. It defaults at the cecond cup size. When pressed, the button
does not beep or anything to indicate that you’ve pressed it. Unless you change
the cup size in the menu settings, which you can do with sighted help, it will
always go back to its default when you shut off the machine. it is not a big
deal to me to press the cup size button if I want a bigger cup each time,
however.
To use the Platinem model you first fill the pitcher with water. Turn it
on and wait for it to warm the water. You’ll hear it making some noise. It
takes about four minutes for it to be ready. Again, it doesn’t beep or anything
to let you know it’s ready, but if you wait about four minutes, you’ll be fine.
For low vision users, there’s a light that comes on and it says, “Ready,” which
you might be able to see. Lift the handle and place the K-cup of your choice in
the spot where it goes on the front of the machine. Close the handle, and then
press the cup selection button if you want a bigger cup. Press it once if you
want a slightly bigger cup and a few times, if you want a quite a bit bigger
cup. This again, is the farthest one to the right on the row of three buttons.
It’s circular. After that, press the button by itself, which is just below the
cup selection button. This is the Brew button and it’s an oval shape and is
bigger than the others. You’ll hear it making noise, as it brews your beverage.
I have seen the Platinem model on Ebay for around $200. There are lots of
options if you want to reuse your K-cups, too. I know Keurig says not to reuse
your cups, but for one thing, they want you to keep buying their coffee. But by
reusing your cups, you can cut down on waste and refill your K-cups with your
own coffee, hot chocolate, or whatever. This not only expands the life of your
cups which is better for the environment, but cuts down on the expense of them.
If you want me to explain how refilling your own cups works, let me know and
I’d be happy to write out instructions on it. Or, if that would be considered
off-topic, let me know and I’d be happy to email instructions to anyone
interested in reusing their cups.
I hope this helps.
Take Care,
Dawnielle
