Hi, Mary Ann, If you are familiar with the BARD site, there are some cook books there I would recommend highly. Cake Keeper Cakes, which has some very good cakes; I've made a few of them.
The Fannie Farmer cook Book, a comprehensive book of recipes and techniques; not only a good reference, but good recipes as well. The Betty Crocker Cook Book; same thing, good reference and good recipes. Good Luck!
