Hi, Suzanne, If you don't scrape the bottom of the pot, you might be able to salvage some of the chili; it's worth a try. You can't camouflage burnt taste.
As for stoves: I think everything now is digital. The best thing is to go to a good appliance store and research the products. I have a flat top Frigidaire that has texture around the buttons on the control panel. I can punch in the numbers for the oven temperature from a panel set up like a telephone keypad. The texture is slightly different where the burners are located. You will want controls that beep, and if necessary that can be easily marked. Hope this helps.
