Looks like my curiosity question has been answered. At least, the part that shows that they do exist. I had never heard of them. Thanks.

I have one of the old style Presto pizza cookers -- a heating element with a
ceramic dish over it in a metal container with a removable power cord like
you find on all kinds of kitchen devices. It's extremely useful -- plug it
in, set the timer, and walk away until the timer is done. You have to be
careful with it, as it gets hot, but hot pads and oven gloves take care of
that if you need them. (I don't, because I'm very cautious when dealing
with it, and the handles don't get too hot) It does a fine job and has
almost nothing to break. The heating element (a metal rod, similar to the
electric charcoal igniters) comes out, so it's easy to clean.
I've had pizza from the newer rotating pizza cooker things, and though they look neat I found their crust to be a bit undercooked for my tastes. So I'd
recommend finding one of the older style ones like I have, because it's
simple and reliable. I don't know if Presto still makes them, (They formerly
made all kinds of interesting kitchen cookery gadgets, like the "Hot
Dogger") but if they don't I suspect you'll find a used one without much
trouble for a reasonable price.
Also, mine is at least 33 years old and is still working just fine, and if
the heating element ever goes out I can probably order a replacement from
Presto and replace the old one in about a minute and a half.
It doesn't heat up the kitchen, it uses a lot less power, the chances of
burning myself are far lower than with the oven, and it's easy to clean. I
used mine last night, in fact, and I've used it to not only make bigger
pizzas but also to make English muffin pizzas -- I build the English muffin
pizza on the pizza dish, then plug it in, which means an easy preparation
without the risk of getting burned.
Can you tell I really like my pizza cooker?

I am interested in purchasing a pizza oven, the kind that sits on your
countertop like a crockpot. I have read about it on line, some positive
and negative comments. I would really like comments from a person who
is blind. Any suggestions, comments, etc. are welcome. Thanks!
Shannon
