Yes, the coffee holder holds just enough for one cup. I fill it with a teaspoon. Hold it over your coffee container, because it's easy to spill it all over the counter, which can ruin one's vocabulary. A friend picked up the coffeemaker for me. If I recall correctly, around Xmas time, or actually, around Thanksgiving, she found the machine on sale at Cole's and we had to buy the little holder separately. I think we had to pay something like $14 for it, which seems outrageous. However, when you consider the cost of those pods, even at discount places like Sams, this investment is worth it. Then, sometime later, my friend found a package of four of the little holders somewhere, for something like 14 or 15 dollars. We bought them and split the price, each of us taking two of them from the package. So now we have extra ones. I can't remember for sure but I think she found those at one of the big drugstores. By the way, you can get different things in those pods, at different stores. Just for fun, I bought a big package of them at Sams, containing three varieties of hot chocolate. And someone told me they have found Chai tea, and apple cider. And there are other types of tea. I like the chocolate once in awhile. But I much prefer good old dark, french roast coffee, which I grind myself. I grind enough at a time, to last for several days and keep it in the refrigerator. Yum!
Hope these ramblings are helpful.
Lois Goodine.

Did the coffee holder come with the keurig? If not where did you get it and does it only hold the amount equal to make 1 cup?

I have a one-cup Keurig coffee brewer and you don't have to use those pre-measured pods. You can purchase a well made plastic coffee holder that fits in the receptacle just right. You can fill it with coffee with a teaspoon, which is much cheaper than puying the pods. Works well. I also have a Mr. coffee 12-cup coffee maker for when other people are with me and wanting coffee Lois Goodine.

"I am a huge coffee snob and have owned many different makers over the
decades beginning with an electric perkalator in college. I now use a Mr.
Coffee machine which is an eight cup maker. So, you see, it makes
about five big mugs. I am not a fan of those single serve makers
because the coffee is measured for yyou. If you are feeding many
people, you will always be making coffee. Yes, measured coffee cuts
down on spilling but it also creates trash for the landfill with all
of those little pods. His is pure bias, but I also think it takes some of the soul out of the process.
I told you, coffee snob.
Also, don't buy low quality coffee beans. Grinding is the best, but
along with being a snob, I'm a slob so, I buy gground coffee ot of laziness.
This is not doubt more than you want to know. It is the novelty of
using this keyboard on my iPad that is driving my yap. Best, Jan

Dear list,

I'd like any feedback recommendations and good coffee makers that
make at least 5 cups. I know a lot of people like the Keurig makers,
but don't know much about them. Would love to hear from people who
have these machines, and which models they like and why. Thanks
