Crockpot lasagna

1 pound of ground meat, your choice
Today I messed up and defrosted Italian hot sausage instead. So that is what I am using
1/2 cup chopped onions
Fry the onions and sausage until cooked thru. Add as much chopped minced garlic as you like. I use four cloves because that is what I had.
Add to onions/sausage and cook about another minute
Now add a 24 ounce can of  spaghetti sauce. Plus 1/2 cup of water
Mix in the spices you like. I used oregano, basil, black and hot crushed pepper to fit my taste. Mix and let simmer for 10 minutes, stirring now and than
Take ricotta cheese and mix in 1 egg and 1 teaspoon of dried parsley.
I don't have ricotta cheese, but did find a 14 ounce tub of cottage cheese.
So I place the cottage cheese in a strainer, put a plate over the top and weighed it down with the cheese container full of water. to get out some of the moisture. Now that the sauce is done, the cheese has the egg/parsley mix together, I felt some parmesan ( 1/4 cup) added to the cheese would taste good.
Using either a 4 or 6 qt crockpot
I will add 1 cup of the sauce to the bottom of the crockpot after placing the liner in it. Seeing I only have liners to fit the 4 qt, that is what I will be using. Place the lasagna noodles over the sauce, braking the noodle to fit the pot. add another layer of sauce over the noodles / the cheese and than more noodles, until you use up the sauce and cheese over the last layer of noodles.
Do not cook or soak the noodles if using the crockpot.
Cook on low for about 4 1/2 hours or until noodles are done. I never had to go over 5 hours. Do not over cook. Or turn the crock on high or u will end up with mush.
Now you can use the same recipe using the oven, Now if using the oven
Soak your noodles for about 10 to 15 minutes to soften them up. Cook @375 F degrees for 45 minutes. Either way Let lasagna rest for 15 minutes before serving. That allows the lasagna to setup.
