Strawberry Crumble Dessert 4 cups fresh Strawberries, sliced 1 1/4 cups Whole Wheat Flour 1 1/4 cups Quick-cooking Oats 2/3 cup Brown Sugar, firmly packed 1/2 tsp. Baking Soda 1/8 tsp. Salt 2/3 cup cold Butter or Margarine 2 Tbs. Granulated Sugar
Pre-heat oven to 350-F degrees and lightly butter a 9-inch square baking pan; set aside. Drain sliced strawberries on paper towels to remove excess moisture, if particularly juicy. In a large mixing bowl, blend together the flour, oats, brown sugar, baking soda and salt. Cut in the cold butter or margarine until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Reserve 1 1/2 cups of the mixture for the dessert topping. Press the remaining mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking pan. In a bowl, combine the granulated sugar and fresh berries. Spoon the mixture over the top of the prepared crust in the pan. Sprinkle the reserved portion of the crumb mixture over the top of the berries.
