Sugar's remake of Cherry Rum Balls

Hi everyone, I ran in to this recipe yesterday and decided to make them for
today's gathering.
I found them to be a bit dryer than I expected with so many cookie crumbs,
so I added one entire package of chocolate chips, not one cup.
I also used Rumchata instead of regular rum whih was a bit milky but the
taste is not as strong and taste wonderful with a hint of cinnamon!.
I then doubled them in powder sugar at the end.
The outcome was awesome!
Here is my recipe
Sugar
Prep Time:
25 Minutes
Skill Level:
Intermediate(I thought it was easy)

Ingredients
Sugar:1 12ounce of Hershey's semi-sweet milk chocolate
. original:1 cup HERSHEY'S SPECIAL DARK Chocolate Chips or HERSHEY'S
Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips

Sugar: 2 cups Rumchata
Original:. 1/2 cup rum

Sugar:
.I doubled the 1/4 cup of light syrup
Original: 1/4 cup light corn syrup

. 3 cups fine vanilla wafer crumbs(about 80 cookies, crushed)

Sugar: I used walnuts, it's what I had at hand
Original:. 1-1/2 cups finely chopped pecans
. 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Sugar: 1 cup of dried cherries
I mixed in with the walnuts all in the mixture
Origianal:. 48 red candied cherries , halved*

Sugar: I did not measure the last of the powder sugar, I just placed some in
a bowl and rolled them till complete covered, adding more moisture.
Original:. 1/3 cup additional powdered sugar for second rolling
Directions
1. Place chocolate chips in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at MEDIUM
(50%) 1 minute; stir. If necessary, microwave at MEDIUM an additional 15
seconds at a time, stirring after each heating, until chips are melted. Stir
in rum and corn syrup.
2. Stir together vanilla wafer crumbs, pecans, and 1/2 cup powdered sugar.
Drizzle chocolate mixture over crumb mixture, stirring until well blended.
Shape mixture into 1-inch balls; roll in powdered sugar. If desired, place
cherry half in center of each cookie, pressing down lightly.
3. Store in airtight container several days to develop flavor. Before
serving, roll balls in additional powdered sugar, if desired. About 4 dozen
cookies.

It did make a lot and they were great!
Enjoy
