Hi Helen,

Have you ever made this with chicken? I’m wondering if so, how it came out and
if the cooking time on the meat is any shorter?

Subject: [CnD] Pork Chow Mein tried and True

This was dinner today.

This is the recipe I'm using, but I'll use beef, instead.
I have made this before, and it's good with pork.
Pork Chow Mein

1 tbsp. oil
1-1/2 pounds pork, cut in to thin strips or cubes
3 cups thin sliced celery
1 cup onion slices
I might put some green onions in too
1 cup sliced fresh mushrooms
2 tbsp. oil
2-1/2 tbsp. cornstarch
1/4 cup water
1 can condensed beef broth
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/2 pound bean sprouts
5 ounce can water chestnuts, drained and sliced Rice or chow mein noodles.

In large skillet, cook pork in oil until done, about 10 minutes.
Remove meat.
Cook celery, onion, and mushrooms, in 2tbsp. of oil until crisp tender, 2 to
3 minutes.
Stirring often.
Blend cornstarch and water, add beef broth and soy sauce.
Stir in to vegetables.
Add meat, bean sprouts, and water chestnuts.
Heat and stir until thickened.
Serve on rice or chow mein noodles.
Serves 4 to 5.
