Glad to learn I am not the only person who has an issue with Kitchen Aid. I've had a stand mixer of theirs and love it. But, I put the attachment on before anything goes in the bowl. I then turn the machine on to give it a quick 5 second test run. This is after I lost a paddle in a bowl of chocolate chip cookie dough. The paddle became disconnected. I have learned over the years how to make the attachments connect but, still do my test method. The place that the mixer head-my term for where the mixer links into the attachment. I don't know what it is really called; is like a big pin. The attachments have a circle which then has a small offshoot. The trick is getting everything aligned.
