yes, if the pen friend labels get wet, they peel apart and wont work anymore, thus I put mine on a business card and laminate them with a small laminator and it works perfectly.

What I do is put a pen friend label/dot on a business card and then laminate it and then punch hole in it and tie to bag and it works wonderfully in frezzer. I do the same thing with bar code lables I make for use with my quest. I have created a program to print my own barcode labels.
