When using Baton Mode, I use 'place atom at pointer' to add a carbon
atom at the starting point and then use Baton Build mode from there.
This does mean that the pdb file still needs a quick edit before
generating a poly ALA trace, but so long as the CAs are in a new
molecule, this doesn't really slow things down.
