Hi,
On redhat El4 with coot 0.6-2283 (Centos-python-gtk2) the rot-trans
button in the toolbar does not show up.
Indeed.
Toggling the button in the preferences produces the following warning:
*** (coot-real 4220: WARNING **: Widget not found:
model_toolbar_rot_trans_toolbutton
Toggling which button in the preferences?
The button is however present in the other modeling toolbar accessible
from Calculate -> Model/Fit/Refine
That's a different type of button
Any idea how to enable/find it for the regular toolbar?
It is not possible - well, not without a good deal of work, that is.
The underlying issue is that CentOS4 (and RHEL4) is hideously old. The
widget set (GTK+) with which it is distributed is too old to support the
menu toggle-button for the rotate/translate function. I wasted about 2
weeks trying to get CentOS4 to build a more modern GTK+ version "by
hand", so that it could be bundled - but eventually I gave up.
Upgrade! You know you want to.
Paul.
