Hi Tim, I am using windows XP and I installed the latest version of CCP4 (6.1.13) although I did also try an older version (6.1.1).
I looked on google for the error message, but most results seemed to be specific to certain pieces of software, i.e. with 'creative labs' it was due to a change in the soundcard settings (not relevant here), or some were due to a virus (which I checked for by doing a full system scan). Some were due to software specific faulty drivers, however I thought that by doing a complete uninstallation and installing the older version this would address any problem with drivers. I couldn't find anything specific to Coot or ccp4 online, although I didn't try ixquick.com.
